MeshCore is a multi platform system for enabling secure text based communications utilizing LoRa radio hardware (That sounds fancy). It can be used for Off-Grid Communication, Emergency Response & Disaster Recovery, Hiking and other Outdoor Activities. It can also support IoT sensor networks but I have not looked into IoT yet.
Founders: Andy Kirby & ? in the UK.
MeshCore has a great website, Discord, Github and Youtube so…
Why am I setting up this knowledge base?
The answer is simple, when trying to setup a MeshCore companion , repeater or room server, you have to fish through an enormous amount of information. When jumping into Discord or other forums I have found many helpful, friendly people, but they all assume you know the very basics, and the advice given frequently makes the assumption that I have basic working knowledge that I don’t have.
My internal monologue “I am idiot, this guy is telling me the frequency for a companion and I don’t want to look stupid by asking him what a companion is?”
OR
perhaps someone in Discord says “Reserve a prefix in repeater-control“…How do I do that? I see the channel, lots of auto-generated information. Do I post a message for the moderator? Hmmm try typing “reserve”, nope that did not work, etc.
So, This knowledge will focus on the very basics of joining the MeshCore community, learning how things work, and where to go to find the information you are looking for.
